Logging into Slack for the first time can be an overwhelming experience. For me, the constant visual and audio notifications can be an unwanted distraction. I would often stop what I was doing just to clear all the unread messages. That’s one of the reasons I recommend new users take a few moments to adjust their settings.

Customizing Your Slack Experience

In addition to managing notifications, Slack can help you increase productivity. With the right settings, you can access and prioritize information, based on what you need. Consider hiding certain areas of your sidebar, snoozing less urgent items, and connecting to frequently used apps to reduce the number of applications you need to have open at once.
