Templates for Project Managers

Welcome + Introduction

I created this toolkit to provide resources to emerging project management professionals, regardless of whether you’re a soon-to-be Project Manager by trade, or you are someone who find themselves taking on more project related tasks.

When you’re starting out, it can feel overwhelming trying to figure out where to start. Don’t be afraid to leverage existing templates and processes if they work for you!

To access the templates on this page, click the “+” symbol to the right of each heading. All templates include a link to the public document, of which you can make a copy.

Working with Others – Stakeholder Management

+ Icebreakers and Introductions

Icebreaker Questions

Consider asking simple questions as part of the first introduction. These questions can be used in one-on-ones and group settings. The intention is to allow stakeholders to engage in a non-project related environment first. This will help build connections and make it easier to talk to each other as the project goes on. If you decide to come up with your own questions, make sure to keep them work appropriate!

  • Who’s someone you admire or that has inspired you, and why?
  • What’s an interesting or fun fact you recently learned?
  • What’s your favorite item you’ve recently purchased and why?
  • What’s one place you really want to visit and why?
  • What slack emoji is your current favorite or most used?
  • What’s something you recently gave yourself a pat on the back for?
  • What’s one of your favorite music albums or artists and why?
  • What’s something you’re looking forward to this week or this month?
  • What book are you currently reading/listening to?
  • What’s been one of your favorite memories this year?
  • What song have you been playing on repeat?
  • What’s one of your personal goals this month or this year?

Project Status Reports

Project status reports are used to provide concise and actionable information to your wider stakeholder groups. This template is a great starting report, even if you don’t have all of the information. It sets the expectation that you will be reporting on this specific information, and it invites feedback.
